What a great festival we had this year! It was probably a one time event that it happened to fall on the same weekend as Easter, but it turned out to be a good thing. Many families were home for the weekend and were able to enjoy the festival along with celebrating Easter. The Friday night Gospel Fest featuring Calvary’s Way seemed to set the stage for the whole weekend. The community came together to enjoy an evening of gospel music under the clear sky while enjoying barbeque, hot dogs, and strawberry shortcake. Children were entertained on the inflatables while adults visited with friends and listened to the gospel music. It was the small town feel of yesteryear when cares are put aside and people actually have time to sit down and visit with each other.Saturday morning got off to a good start with the 5K run having 150 entries. While participants in the 5K were returning from their run others were lining up for the parade. The parade this year was a good one. Participants and spectators enjoyed the cool morning air while the bands provided a marching beat that you just couldn’t resist. Kids marched on down to the Tennis Court play ground for an Easter Egg Hunt with over 2,000 eggs available for the young children. This was provided by First Baptist Church of Reynolds.
Vendors were plentiful this year and seemed to enjoy being out on Easter weekend as they incorporated the Easter theme into many of their crafts. The Reynolds Woman’s Club old book sale was a success and is a favorite among many spectators. The Cook-off was a success even though entries were less than in previous years. The food was luscious as each participant gave it their best to have the winning entry in each catagory.
