The Georgia Strawberry Festival Committee met Tuesday, February 4 and made plans for a great time this year to celebrate their 16th year. The theme will be “Sweet 16 ” and will have a 50’s theme flair to it. You will see that theme in the parade, the cookoff, and other activities throughout the Festival. There are even plans to have “Elvis” entertaining on Saturday. Exciting ideas will be announced as plans are finalized.
There will be a pre-festival event on Friday evening, April 18th when a Strawberry Jam will be held at Community Fellowship Church on Railroad Street. Musicians and all music lovers will want to be sure to make plans to be at this event.
The group for the Friday Evening Gospel Fest will be the One Accord and they will provide some great Southern Gospel Music. Following the gospel fest on Friday evening will be a special musical performance by Fountain City Brass. The Panhandle Fire Department will be cooking up their good barbeque and the 4-H will be serving their melt in your mouth Strawberry Shortcake. The Reynolds Golf Course will also be selling hotdogs and hamburgers in the park. There will be inflatables for the children to enjoy while the “more than children” enjoy some good ole Southern Gospel music and enjoy visiting with friends and family.
Saturday’s events will get an early morning “kick off” when the Berry Blast Girls Softball Tournament, gets underway at the city ballfield on South Liberty Street. There will be a $5.00 per vehicle parking charge for this event which is being sponsored by Fusion Gold Girls Softball teams. Also starting at 8:00 a.m. will be the annual 5K Run for Literacy event. Parking and line up for this event will be at Liberty Park located on South Collins Street, compliments of Paris VonRabenau.
There will be arts and crafts in downtown Reynolds all day on Saturday, live entertainment on the main street stage, photography contest, cook off with taste tickets being available at the information booth, a classic car show, lawn mower race and much more going on. Hope this whets your appetite for some fun and food!!
